In 1987, Thomas Knoll wrote the first lines of Photoshop while he was a Ph.D. student at the University of Michigan. He and his brother John met with Adobe's Russell Brown in 1988, and the rest is history! Adobe purchased the license to Photoshop from the brothers, and Photoshop 1.0 was released for Macintosh in March 1990. Today, Thomas Knoll is an Adobe Fellow!
